Master Cylinder Operation and Upgrade Question

So I've noticed a bit of brake fluid leaking around the lip of the MC on my truck. Each time I clean it off with brake cleaner, I see new fluid seep out. I have manual brakes and front disks rear drums. I just bled the brakes and rebuilt the rears last week. Is this normal or is something wrong? The pedal does not feel spongy but the stopping effort does not always feel "linear", as in to stop faster I feel like I need to press much harder than to stop slowly.

Second question- is there a good MC upgrade that will give more stopping force without going to power or boosted brakes? Willwood, SSBC, NAPA, all make replacements, can anything be done to makes the brakes more responsive?

How high do you have the fluid level? Leaking MC lids is fairly common. Some have smoothed down the sealing surface of the top of the MC with sand paper (with it out of the truck!!), others have doubled up on lid gaskets.

Not exactly unusual, though our definitions of "much harder" could be very different.
