INSTALLING heater tube f75z-8555-aa

THIS TUBE IS LOCATED FWD AND BEHIND THE WATER PUMP (IN THE BLOCK). THE OLD ONE WAS RUSTED SO I PUSHED IT OUT SO I COULD INSTALL A NEW ONE.
IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN INSTALLING? SHOULD I USE MAYBE SOME SEALANT BEFORE I PRESS THIS ONE BACK IN?
IT CONNECTS TO THE LONG HEATER TUBE THAT RUNS ALONG THE CENTER OF THE VALLEY.

Actually, it went in easy. I just hammered it in from the fwd side with a brass punch until it bottomed out.....installed the heater tube then applied silicone all around. That should hold it.

For future reference , when installing this part, cut a section out of a 1/2" id pipe , then use the pipe to hammer the bypass tube in place might want to use good sealant as well.

This is for my sons 99 F-150 4.6 ,the correct ford part # f75z9d428ca , It is the short tube that has a 90 degree bend in it , either the return or supply hose tube for the heater core. Doorman also makes this part so that say it is a part that fails quite a bit...a whole lot better then buy a $3-400 plastic intake replacement
about $25 locally , Dealer wants $30 .
Going to pick it up this afternoon and do the install...I will get a couple of pic for future reference...

Someone may want to save these photos for later use, it is a photobucket account..

Okay here is some pictures of the tool I made, and also a picture of the replacement hose i used for the coolant tube that runs under the intake manifold...btw i just cut the old tube out with a Dremal cutting tool and removed the remaining rusted remnants by hammer and chisel .

1/2 inch ID pipe cut in half , you use this to tap the new By-pass tube into the intake manifold...$1.50 + ten minutes to make. I am holding it next to the new bypass tube..blue ultra sealant was used to insure a seal

Here is a picture of the replace coolant hose/tube that runs under intake, the old tube lays in the same place, be sure to cut some 5/8 hose to use as a anti chaffing where the hose runs against sharp edges.

then this is used after the job is done...

F250 4X4: Good post. I have the intake off of my '01 F150 and decided to replace the tube under the intake just bec ause it is easy now. My old tube looks fine, no holes that I can see or rust but if it has a problem I would kick my self later. I considered using a hose just like you did but was concerned about the heat considering where it is located. My brain said that a hose would be ok, but I chickened out and bought the Ford part. I also bought new o rings at $13 a piece. At first I refused to pay that ridiculous price, but after some research I found that these are not just rubber o rings. They are silicone o rings with high heat specs. These o rings are kinda pricey even at other suppliers, Amazon, etc. So I bought them too. I don't want to redo any of this since I am getting older now and it is hard to maneuver around some of these things. Thanks for the pics and descriptio.
