swaping 4spd to 5

I just want to know what i would have to change in order to do this because i dont think its as simple as dropping my trany and just putting the other one in. Id like to do it but need to know what would have to be changed. both 4-4

Since your truck is already standard, then yes, it's as easy as dropping your tranny and installing the other one..

You will need to get the proper flywheel and clutch for the 5 speed and the driveshaft or get yours moded to fit it, but that's about it.

Flexplate (flywheel) is on automatics.... is your truck a 4 speed auto or stick shift?

Cross member can be moved or modded if needed, but if you have the other one, be a good idea to use it.

On the transfer case, i'm not sure. I know on E4OD trucks and ZF5 trucks, the tcase will interchange though.

When I swapped a ZF into my '87, I needed to change the clutch hydraulic line, the crossmember, the floor insert in the cab, and the driveshaft. The original clutch and flywheel worked fine with the 5-speed. Mine is 4x2, so you would need to compare the length of each transmission to determine if the original driveshafts would work or if you would need new lengths.
