Air conditioning evaporator

My Air conditioning on my 95 f150 stopped working, and so I took it to a service shop to get a diagnosis. They said they had stuck their coolant leak tester in the evaporator box and that the evaporator was leaking. They said I would have to replace it and the dryer. I took it all apart. My question is, should there be signs such as oil or something if the evaporator is leaking? Also, Why does the dryer need to be replaced too?

Usually there will be some refrigerant oil wherever the leak is. As for as the dehydrator, yes it should be replaced when you replace a major component. Desiccant in the dehydrator does wear out, for lack of better description,

Well, it was clean as a whistle in there. Very purty. No sign of oil at all.

Would that make you suspect of the diagnosis?

Yes, I suspect their diagnosis may be in error.

Hotrod351, you got that right! I priced the parts and their prices were more than twice as much as the local parts houses and almost 4 times as much as on line! I will have it presure checked asap.
