I think my lift pump is leaking
Here's the next chapter in the ongoing saga of my project truck (87 Ford F250 IDI).
So I have noticed that it has a very slow diesel leak. Enough to leave about a fist sized mark in about 24hrs.
It's right below where the mechanical fuel pump is, and I know that seal is something that is known to fail.
If it is that pump it looks like it might be easier, and less of a mess to put a block plate where the old pump is and install an electrical pump like a duralift 40223N up near the water separator. I've seen threads where people have done this for faster priming/bleeding.
I'm wondering whats the best way to hook fuel hose up to the factory hard line that goes to the pump inlet? It's a compression fitting I think. Should I try and find a barbed fitting to fasten onto the end of the line with the fitting that's there, or just secure the line behind the flare with a clamp?
Any big reasons I should reconsider doing this?
