Safe to remove RABS fuse 93 F250

I have a 93 F250 7.5l, and the abs and brake light come after 20 min or so of driving, replaced front brake rotors, bled brake lines and brake fluid is good. I took it to a mechanic and they said the RABS valve needs to be replaced, but it cost around 900$.

I have been told you can just remove the RABS fuse and disable it this way and just not have the RABS. Ive been reading online and one post said something along the lines of if you do this, the rear brakes will have full line pressure all the time and cause brakes to lock up.

My ultimate question is, is it safe to remove the RABS fuse and drive?

thanks for any help

I just removed mine last week due to my rabs locking up. No brake warning lights but other than that no problem so far and my rear brakes do not seem to be locking up. I think my HCV is bad but not sure. Hope this helps

On my 92 the RABS unit wasn't that expensive. If it were me, I'd pull the codes from the RABS system.

Did you happen to replace any of your brake or tail lights?

OK, then just make sure none are bunt out. I had just replaced my brake lights with LED replacements and these use less wattage. That was detected by the RABS and threw a code. A light being out would do the same and my code, like yours, only came on after driving. Turns out, when I got above 35 a RABS test was performed and the code came on.

OK, so I said that I had unplugged the module and removed the fuse in effect to disable RABS. Brakes functioned fine.I have an electronic transmission and it needs all sensors to function. I installed a new Hydraulic Control valve(code 4) after some testing indicated that was the problem. All is good now and my RABs are functioning fine.

I hate the RABS on these trucks - one of the first things I do is pull the fuse and then the RABS warning light bulb. I have been driving my 91 F150 like this for many years with no problems.

Glad to hear you got this resolved and you didn't disable the RABS.

So you wouldn't recommend removing just the RABS fuse?

Not at all. It's there for a reason. Is there a good reason to disable it?

Well I had the brake system checked on my truck, and they said the RABS valve needed to be replaced, but was around $800. Someone told me that you can just disable the RABS by taking out the fuse.

That's like saying the smog pump and egr are there for a reason. When they break you remove them haha.
