OT China stinks!!!!
As I unwrap another tool from harbor freight, I can't help wondering what that country must smell like. This roller/shear/press break has an oily coating on it that smells like they got it from a shar Pei's **** gland....every thing you get there has a strange "funk" to it. Some smell only linger a short time while others last for months or even years. Anyways, this thing looks like it will be handy, regardless what it stinks like.

I was over there in January '99, peak heating season. There wasn't a single day you could see more than a few blocks. Everyone had bronchial infections, and since they sell penicillin over the counter for 75 cents for a week's supply, not much will cure it (drug resistant). I wash anything from there before using it.
PS -- I wouldn't be surprised if they milked shar peis' **** glands, they don't waste anything. The city buses leave their headlights off at night to "save electricity"

Each of the countries in Asia have their own unique oders that many find offensive - If you eat the local foods there for a week of so it will infuse you with local perfume de' Ore that will take days to work out of your system
(I have no idea what perfume de' Ore means but it sounds good)

I think by the rest of the world's standards we here in the USA are clean freaks. Although I've never been out of this country, well I did go to Canada a couple of times if that counts, but I've worked with people from different countrys, most had a funky smell and have strange rituals that were either rather upsetting or left a mess.
Funny story, last summer I noticed my shop toilet had water around it, making a mess. I thought one of two things, either because of the humid conditions it was sweating, something I have never noticed before or it had a leaky gasket. I mentioned the problem to a guy I had working for me. He asked me, "Haven't you noticed that when XXXXX(a customer's employee) is here there's water on the floor. When he hasn't been here the floor is dry." I cleaned up the mess and kept an eye on the floor. It stayed dry until XXXXX came in for the day and, sure enough, the puddle was around the toilet. This happens every time the guy spends a day in my shop. I know what he is doing, it's part of a religious ritual. I have to mop the floor every time he leaves. I don't know if he realizes that he's making a mess or not. He probably just doesn't think about. I talked his boss, my customer, but he doesn't want to say anything to the guy, my customer is kind of a wuss.
