Will be parting out a '53 F-100
So, a co-worker has me hauling in his '53 F-100, so he can make room for the old Chevy his grandpa bought new. This is going to be either parted out, completely, or sold whole if someone wants it. My question..... Is there a market for used parts anymore? When I get it here, I'll take pictures, and post them, but I don't see used parts moving very much.

There's always a market for the right parts, if they are at the right price. If you are going to part it out, and want to use the entire FTE community (ie...entire US) as your target market, they will have to be priced right. Consider the shipping....(price + shipping < 50% of retail = sold!)
On the other hand, parting it out could take months, if not years to get rid of everything. You'd probably make more money in the long run, if you have the time to mess with all that. You will probably also end up taking some of it to the scrap yard.
I would sell it as a whole truck. If it's not a complete mess, somebody will buy it locally. (Or nationally...if the price is right. You can ship that truck anywhere in the lower 48 for about $1000.) You could unload it for very little hassle, for some quick cash, and completely wash your hands of it in less than a couple of months.
Again, it all comes down to how much money you need to make off of it, and how much time you have to mess with it.
Post your pics and more specific info on it and the guys will give you some ballpark figures on what a fair price would be.

That's kind of what I had been noticing. I had pretty good luck through here, and other places, moving things a bit ago. I've been seeing that the cost, and quality, of new has improved dramatically lately, and just about killed the used parts market. This money mess we're in hasn't helped either. That's why I asked the question, to see if what I was noticing was solid, or if it was just a thing going on around here.

It's a numbers and popularity game. I just parted a 94 Cobra. Sold virtually every nut and bolt off the thing. Effie parts still sell but it is much more selective. I have F250 sheetmetal I can't sell easily due to shipping costs which have literally doubled if you aren't a high volume business. People still drive hundreds of miles to buy F100 sheetmetal if it is good and you have enough pieces to make the trip worth it.
I'd still try to Craigslist your parts if the entire vehicle isn't saleable. You can sell a few pieces and still bring about the same price at the scrap yard.

I've recently been looking for the front suspension/beam axle of a '53-56 F100. Though I think I've got one coming, I can say that there is a market out there still.... if not only for me, lol.
'94 Cobra parts are a big seller for the base Mustang and Tbird guys, since they are nearly a direct swap and upgrade for braking and such. Of course, I've been out of that loop for a couple years now, so I could be wrong.

I didn't get a chance to go pick it up today, but will in the next day or two. I'm in central Oregon Dave. Just north of Bend/Redmond area. I didn't post pictures yet goose, because I only have a few phone camera pics from my co-worker, and wasn't trying to sell parts through a forum post. I was asking if people still bought used parts. To answer your question, I am in Madras, Oregon, which is 128 miles south-east of Portland, or 45 miles north-north-west of Bend.
