Chrysler's internal documents question Ram

Chrysler is reportedly having a hard time ramping up production of its 2013 Ram 1500. According to The Detroit News, only 16 of the 58 trucks built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant during the model's first hour passed final inspection. While quality eventually improved over the course of the day, just over half of the units built on Thursday were approved for shipment. Even with workers ordered to stay late to fix their mistakes, some 1,078 units remained outside the facility with defects. The problem, according to workers at the plant, is morale.

According to the report, Chrysler recently changed the shift schedule at the plant and workers are unhappy with the new situation. The new plan has workers split into three shifts, each covering four 10-hour days. With the shifts staggered, some workers now have to work nights and on Saturdays. Some employees are so upset that they've taken to protesting, though the move isn't sanctioned by the United Auto Workers.

Meanwhile, Chrysler admits there were internal issues with the launch, but that the company was able to contain them. A spokesperson has said "plant quality indicators are getting progressively better."

Does not surprise me any. My experience with Chrysler products is there is alway some stupid little thing wrong, stuff that as long as you are pleased with performance and design you can overlook. But it gets old.......

My neighbor bought a new Ram (Dodge) and never took possession of the truck, so got his money back. Things like the head liner being loose, bed 1" high on the drivers side from frame out of alignment, carpet pulling away from door plate, etc. this was before he even left the dealership. He told me that if there were this many things wrong, their quality was not up to par.

The Ram truck my neighbor purchased and then did not take delivery on was a Ram 2500 diesel. He gave me the link as an example that it must be a quality issue across the board. And his made it all the way to the dealership.

Sorry if I created an issue by posting it here. He has ordered a 2013 Ford Super-Duty F-250 since then and based on the quality he observed at the local Ford Dealer.

Like I said, Sorry for posting it here, all I had to go by was the previous long thread post about the Ram 1500 having a Diesel. That also is not a 6.7, but my neighbor ordered a 6.7 2013 F-250 because of the inferior quality of the Ram.

I thought others might want to know.

The 2500 is built only in Mexico so that quality has nothing to do with Warren assembly, hate to spoil the bashing but that goes on at Ford as well !

It is not bashing when any manufacturer lets this many quality errors leave the plant and make it all the way to the Dealership. Some errors can be found on almost any new vehicle, but when there are the number that he found on the 2500, and then have quality issues at the Warren Truck Plant, there must be a system wide quality control problem.

And that is not bashing, that is information.

Looks like quality issue are getting out at Dodge and Ford by the recalls involved and the problems that are arising on these forums! Most of them can be solved but management at both just want the numbers to get bonuses ,so it ship it and keep building! Could be fixed very easily but as long as people buy it they will keep putting out this junk!

The Union guys are just pissed that they won't get overtime all the time with the new schedule. It's a shame they can't be fired easily.
