09 Ford Frustration with Dealers.
My F250 is an 09 and I just turned 50k miles. Since January it has been in the service department six times for various problems/ warrantee work. Those 6 times does not include every 5k oil changes and tire rotation.
Today the rear brakes started grinding. Really? The truck spends so much time at the dealer getting everything and anything it needs. Is it too much to ask to look at ware and tear items when you see the truck every 4-5 weeks? Is it my responsibility to remind them to do their job? Absolute crap. I have two Ford dealers within 30 miles of my home. 1 will overbook there service and keep your truck for two days just to find out they never looked at it. The other, well, I guess I need to lower my expectation from knee high to ankle high.

Yes, most dealers do suck. I'll give you that. But it surprises me that they don't go over your truck when it's in the shop to check brakes, tires, etc. It is an easy way for them to make money. Whenever my truck has been in the shop, they have a form with a "stoplight chart" that shows green/yellow/red for brake pad linings, tire wear, fluids, etc.
My experience has been quite the opposite. They wanted to do an $800 front brake job including pads, calipers, and rotors because a pad was hanging up in the caliper and not retracting. I told them no thank you. All I did was pull the pads out and clean off the rust and dirt and lube the slides and I was back in business. It is a common problem on our trucks. It did cause the pads on that corner to wear out prematurely forcing me to eventually change them early. The other side was still good.

Surprises me as well. It's bad enough I am always needing work done. I called to make an appointment for tomorrow and asked them if I need new brakes all the way around if they have the parts. Got the standard answer," we need to look at it first to see what is going on then we will look at what we need for parts. " Nice job at not answering the question. How I wish we had a Ford dealership that takes care of their customers. Sorry for the rants but it drives me crazy when people can't/ won't do their job to the best of their ability.

I thought I would add to this thread about dealers and service work. I have recently had my 2010 F250 4x4 in for a fuel change and coolant change out. It is not time for the fuel filter but I was asked when it was last replaced by the dealer. I received a call from the dealer stating that the air filter needed to be changed, and I gave the go ahead to do so. Then I was informed that the fuel injectors needed cleaning also. Now that one I did not approve. Let me give my reasonings. With every fill up I add cetane booster to the fuel and I have not noticed any drop off of fuel milage to indicate a problem with injectors. So I believe my reasoning was correct, and will watch for any signs to prove me wrong. What do you think?
Thank you
