96 7.3 4x4 E4OD with an odd transmission issue. Help me figure it out?

I feel the transmission may be giving up the ghost.

A couple months ago it gave me a transmission slipping code while towing a car. I reset, and have not been using OD. Haven't had an issue with that code since.

However, now there's a new issue. I plow with this truck, and need to reverse for extended periods of time/distance. When I do so, the truck does not want to go back into a forward gear. It started out that I had to drop it in to "1" in order to get it to catch a forward gear. Once it catches, it's fine. Shifts normally through the gears. Well, once time it didn't want to catch. I had to rev the 7.3 to ~2500 to get it going in a forward gear (while I was in "1")

I stopped reversing for long distances, and didn't have the problem again. Tested it out one more time by reversing for ~100', and had to drop it in to "1" in order to catch a forward gear again.

Is it a valve body isses/servo pack? I'm not getting any errors/codes.. Man, I miss my manual!

Actually seems a little high. Think too much fluid is causing a problem?

Good tip, thanks. I'll get back to you with what I find. Might have some snow tomorrow night, so hopefully good results follow.
