Correct fuel pump for '63 262??
Hey Guys! I originally posted this in the Unibody forum but someone suggested I post it here also. Im new here, and to Unibodys. Bought a '63 F100 unibody w/ a 262 I6 last summer as an impulse buy, mainly because I just love the look of old unibodys. Fairly rough shape, rust holes in all the usual places, but it actually ran! Kind of. My question is: what is the CORRECT available replacement mechanical fuel pump for this motor? It has a noisy electric pump currently. I've read that fuel pump part number AFP 60092 from Napa will work: NAPA AUTO PARTS
But I'm not sure as no one seems to have one listed specifically for the 1963 262. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
Found this one, but again, not sure:
NAPA AUTO PARTS
BTW, my VIN is F10BR343234, which makes my engine a 262 i6?

Yes, that VIN indicates a 262. I also have the 262 in my '63 F100, but I'm using an aftermarket electric fuel pump. This thread talks about fuel pump for a 262: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-262-6cyl.html
A lot of parts stores only show the 223 available in '63 F100's so you can try having them look up '63 F350 which will show a 262.
And this tread talks about identifying the 262 vs the 223:

I ended up finding my 262 fuel pump on Ebay, every one I got from an auto parts store (including one for a 223) was wrong. Find one brand new in the box on Ebay for $15. It was only after installing it did I find the hole in the top of the number one piston. Schucks! My 262 is in a 62 F100 Uni, most literature doesn't even show that engine available for my truck.

This thread talks about fuel pump for a 1964 only 262: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-262-6cyl.html

1964 262 fuel pump is not the same as 1961/63 and there are two different 1961/63 262 fuel pumps, as it depends on the mounting pattern of the gasket.
IMO, buy a fuel pump block off plate from a parts store and an electric pump. Install the pump as close as possible to the fuel tank as it's a pusher.
Any 262 mechanical pump (it's a puller) that can be bought today will have sat on shelves for years. The rubber diaphragm hardens up due to ozone in the air.
Changes in climate causes the diaphragm to age crack/shrink. So the pump won't last too long, especially when exposed to ethanol.

Number Dummy, I wasn't referring to a Ford truck parts catalog. If you go to Autozone.com you will see only the 223 I6 listed for '63 F100s. But if you select F350, it shows a 262 available. Just offering this as it might be helpful. Advance Auto shows a 262 for the F100 for some reason...
I know an electric fuel pump is arguably easier but I sure hate the whine right under my seat. My plan for now is to go back to an original mechanical FP whenever I rebuild my engine.
