Winter Issues

I am experiencing a problem that just occurred yesterday after freezing rain storm. When i go to unlock my 04 Expedition, all doors unlock except the driver. I go from the inside of the vehicle and open the door just by pulling the handle. Now, not only what the door not lock or unlock, but the latch on the door actuator will not lock. I seemed to do a temporary fix by pushing down on the lock of the door and it seems to free up the whole system inside the door. Does anyone know if this is just a winter issue or there is something else going on here?

Probably some water got down into the door and later froze. I'd wait for a thawing out before tearing into it.

Last night, I started to tear the door apart, but before I took that waterproof gray stuff off, I tried the door and it would latch. But the same thing happened this morning. So you think it is just freezing??

I think so. It's a bit difficult to ignore the freezing rain timing.

ironically i had a similar thing after i posted, ha. my wife's expie would open fine, but the latch wouldn't actuate and work when closing the door, and the lock was essentially seized.

i pulled it in the garage and fired up the heater, pulled the door panel off, and doused everything that had a hinge or a latch in WD to displace the moisture... no problems since.
