2004 F150 Heritage 4.2 AC Leak
Noticed my AC was blowing the same temperature as the outside air yesterday and couldn't hear the compressor come on. I've had the truck 3 years and the AC has worked great as long as I have had it. The metal high pressure line coming out of the condenser and the one that T's off of it for the High pressure service port had rubbed together and must have made a hole, there's refrigerant oil around the rubbed area and the rubber hose below this is oily as well as the top of the frame. Hooked my gauges up at 60' F ambient temperature and had 15psi in the system. I have access to a vacuum pump to evacuate the system and nitrogen to pressurize and test for leaks before recharging. As well as a scale to weigh in the charge It looks like what I need is listed on Rock Auto as Suction and Discharge Assembly and is offered by UAC, GPD, and Four Seasons. The Four Seasons is $30 more than the other 2 which are within 10 cents of each other. Does anyone have experience using any of these brands, what would you guys use? Is there any-other thing you recommend I replace while the system is open? Will I need to add any compressor oil on recharge or just weigh in the proper amount of R134A? Thanks
