1994 F150, How to remove radio??
Afternoon!
So i'm getting tired of my radio in my '94 F150. Is it NOT the original one, and i'm wanting to put an original one back in.
Right now it's got this old Alpine CD player in it, and I hate CDs in cars, I got a Bricknose factory tape player radio witch I want to put in.
But how the heck does the radio come out? Do you have to remove the vinyl dash pad, and if so, how do you do that?
I've done some research on it, and sounds like factory radios had some kind of tabs/clips you needed a special tool to pop 'em out. I can't see anything special on this one, so hopefully there isn't anything holding it back.
I have the glove box off, and I can reach up to the radio from the side and push it out, but I can only push it out 1/4" on one side, other side doesn't move?
A lil help on this would be appreciated!

Most aftermarket radios (and plenty of factory types) are designed to pull out from the front with minimal trim removal. The last Alpine I had, had a trim bezel that could snap out fairly easily (prying it out with a screwdriver should work). Then there were little slots on either side where a special tool could be inserted. The special tool does two things - releases tabs that lock the radio in place, and locks tabs on the tool into the radio, so you can use the tool to pull the radio out. I didn't have the tools, so just a thin metal bar on either side would release it and then you can push from behind or try to grab the face.
If you search for your model of radio you may find a manual that shows the tools that it used.

Thanks guys, got 'er out.
Can't remember the model number. It's an old in dash CD changer thing with a half removable face.
It's very very close to this one, maybe an older version to this one. I don't even know how the CD changer works, might be missing something, behind that flap, there's nothing to play a CD, from the size of it, looks like you can stick a whole CD case in there. lol
