Fixing the VSS

I have been having a few issues with my 94 F150 lately, mostly not wanting to shift properly, and terrible gas mileage, and after checking the codes, it turns out my Vehicle Speed Sensor is bad. Well before I went out to buy a new one, I looked at the wiring to the old one, and it looks like it has either been chewed up by mice, or worn through from rubbing.

My question....if I take out the bad section of wire and splice in new wire, is this going to work, or is it going to throw off the resistance to the sensor and cause more problems down the road?

Thanks in advance.

Just repair the wire.. Use a like size wire, there is so little current on this circuit, resistance should not be a problem.

Use solder and heat shrink tubing, crimp connectors will cause problems in the future.

Soldering iron, flux, solder and shrink tuning should be a must In every tool

box.

I was proud of my son (19y.o.) last night, he worked on replacing the stereo

deck In his Explorer. He actually got out the soldering tools and got the job

Done.

Do it right, save time in the long run.
