door check arm
ok i am replacing the weatherstrip on my 1951 f3 the bracket that holds the weatherstrip at the bottom of the door you cannot get at. looks like if you take the door check arm loose it would be accessible. it looks like a pin going through it but it will not move how does it come off before i go and break it.
thanks

There is a pin in the door jamb that holds the check strap in place, but it is peened over so it doesn't fall out. If you can cut or grind on the end of the pin to clean it up, (pick one), you can remove the strap.
Alternatively, if you can get to the inside, the door side of the strap has a rubber bumper held in with a cotter pin. If you can remove that pin, you may be able to get the room you need.

thx for the quick reply i do have a service manual but could not find anything on it. i did try to drive it out but did not want to break it.i was able to get them out finally with vice grips.but would be a lot easier to get the new ones in correctly with the door in the way.at least now i know why they would not move. looking thu the access hole there is a cotter key holding it on the inside, but very hard to acess it there
thx al
