I got the national inner and outer bearings from oreillys for 50 today. It didn't come with the 382a race. Looks like I need to call them back. It also looks like the old bearings that came out didn't have races on them. What's up with that?

Bearing cups or races?

The race is the inner part that the bearings are mated to, the cup is the other part that you hammer into the hubs.

have you done hubs before?

I'm not sure why your having to match up parts, should be able to grab both bearings for like 30 dollars at the parts store.

Nope never had to do hubs before. Must be cups that I'm missing.

Thanks Aaron. I'm talking to William about it now. I've never done hubs or wheel bearings before. I've pulled carriers, changed ring and pinions but never wheel bearings! Lol

I drive all mine with a hammer and long chunk of brass rod. Or a 2x4 if I can for a ways. Never had a problem with this way.

Did you somehow arc the solenoid on the fender?

Check the main cable where it hooks to the starter, it may be touching the other post on the selinoid.

Well I got sick of putting so much fuel in that dump truck, but I haven't had time to go get the manual hubs. Got the new wheel bearings in and gutted the auto hubs and re installed the covers. Took it for a drive and no more clunking like the hubs are trying to engage. Drive able for now, just no 4 wheel for the time being. This is the first bit of wrenching I've done in the new shop. It's no where near put together, but I absolutely love all the room I have, that and the ready heater makes it pretty cozy till I get my wood burner set up.
