2008 F550 wrench light

I was standing outside of my truck today talking to a customer when my truck sped up momentarily and then cut off. When I tried to recrank it the wrench light is showing. Truck never did crank. It has the 6.4 diesel. Any ideas as to what this is.

hard to say without the codes but the wrench light indicates a powertrain fault.

If you motor sped up then check all your fluids. It maybe that it prevented a runaway.

A runaway could occur perhaps from overfueling. High engine oil levels.

Not that this is your case. Just an idea. Can you read the codes? Check all your fluids.

Not sure I follow you. I had filled up with fuel about 20 miles back but had stopped already once before but had cut truck off then though

Oh..recent fuel fillup. Could be a problem with water in the fuel. Have you drained the fuel water separator and checked for water?

I take it that it did not start back up after this did it?

if you had a massive amount of water it may not come on.

If you are are pretty good at changing your own fuel filters then I would advise pulling the engine fuel filter and shinning a light into the fuel bowl See if you have metal or rust forming.

If so then you are in need of a fuel system flush and new hpfp.

So you see this could be serious or maybe not till you check futher.
