Ignition wire?
hello, It's jack I was wondering what this part of my ignition switch goes to (link below) if I trace the wire a little ways back and right at the ignition there it LOT's of resistance also at the ignition it self the plug is melted where (21 on the digram) meets the switch and becomes very hot. When I turn my key to start position too engage the starter, the engine will fire but when I let go of the key to where it should be when motor running it dies. It runs fine when the starter is cranking over the engine, I can even rev it out as long as the starter it still engaged( I know it very hard on the starter) wondering what it goes to so i can replace it, as much detail as possible would be great?
It's number 21 on the right side, it goes to 37 up at the top im not ture what all that is?!?!

Ok, that link goes to your email, so unless you want everyone to go through there you should probably host them somewhere. Pics post best from Photobucket or if it's a smaller pic you can attach it straight off your computer.
If your ignition switch has the round pins, a loose fit and poor connection is a known issue with that, and there have been reports of melted wiring from it. There was an update harness for that, but I'm not sure what the part number or availability of that is.

If numberdummy will chime in, he should tell you which ignition switch you need. I think there was a recall for ignition switches that would catch fire. Is this the diagram you want us to see?

The original POS ignition switch used on all these vehicles shorted out and caught FIRE!
IF the switch that is present has spliced wires between the switch and dash harness, the original POS switch was replaced. If not, the POS switch was not replaced.
There were no US Gov't mandated recalls back then. FoMoCo sent the dealers a "campaign letter" that outlined the problem and the fix.
It was then up to the dealers to notify the customers. Some did, some did not.
D1AZ-11654-C (replaced POS C8AZ-11654-A) .. Ignition Switch Kit ~ Includes separate plug w/pigtailed wires (Motorcraft SW-1054) / Available from Ford.
