Offy Heating Plate

Exactly, only gain is looks and a minor savings in weight. Oh and the mentioned machineability over steel plate.
I have toyed with the idea of making a heated spacer for the carb from something like this

Would keep the heater lines up away from the hot manifolds

As far as the cosmetic aspect of the aluminum heating plate goes, since it is bolted under the intake and unseen, I guess it makes no sense to bother making it from aluminum.

Ford made a heated carburetor plate in the 60's. I found one at the j/y and bought it for $7. You can also find them on epay, in the autolite 4100 section, for $15--$50. I plan to use both the carburetor spacer/heater, and the manifold.

as for the aluminum one under the intake, was just an cosmetic gain, didn't say you'd see it lol maybe on a street rod or something.
on a side note i bought this for my setup, and had to take off 3/32"+ all the way around to match up right but for 16 buck i cant complain its cheaper then the raw metal.

I may switch to the 6006 spacer i referenced earlier for the better division of the intake (offy dp) with its 4 holes over the open center i bought in a rush.
