Tail gate is looking sweet. Looks like a plan on the Fairlane, they make a sharp looking car.

OMG. This was bittersweet and and you killed me in a few short posts. Hackster, the Humble man he is, complemented you Buddy and someone Gave you the car of my dreams?! Color me jealous on the Fairlane.....and congrats on the compliment. Both well deserved. If you find no time for the Fairlane............. I have a used 390 and it's C6 BUILT out of a 67 LTD waiting for a resting spot for me at a old Buddy"s house in my Home town of Toledo Ohio.

Thanks guys. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't free. But it was cheap enough to not pass up. It needs a ton of work but will be worth it. I will need to replace some metal around the back window, the rear lower quarters are gone so I will weld in some replacements, the floor is rotted but that really didn't matter because I will cut out the entire floor and fire wall since I will make a 2x3 frame for it. I have some 65 t bird seats that will get stitched like the original style but in red leather. On a positive note, the grill is perfect and they don't make a repop. Maybe Robert can polish it for me? All the window trim is perfect. My buddy is giving me the hood off the car he is building because he will use a 427 hood. The hood you see on this car is trashed. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I will be putting a 68 mustang dash in this car which my other buddy is giving me for free. Alloways fairlane has the same thing so I'm not doing anything new there. Regardless, it's motivated me to get this f100 finished for sure.

Nice tailgate work amigo... Wish I had had something to work with, after some scrap metal scrounger made off with mine. I had to start from scratch.. and never having made a tailgate before, I went with a 1.5" sq. steel tubing for the frame, then covered it with diamond plate aluminum. Best I could do, with what I had available to me in Baja.. I am way jealous of yours though.. Very very nice...

Baja

Photo taken at Edgar's paint shop... notice tail lights are still out.. The notch is for the booms to lay in, but they are not on the truck now..

Thanks Baja. I think your tailgate turned out great considering the circumstances. So a scrapper stole it off your truck! A holes. Metal prices are way down; I bet they wouldn't even bother now.

Yeah, the tailgate was off the truck, and at the paint shop, as was the truck. Some scrapper came by, asked about a pile of junk, and Edgar said "Sure, give me 300 pesos and you can have the pile".. you know, old fenders & stuff,. Sneaky guy, waited until Edgar was in the spray booth, and stole the tailgate, that already had all the sanding & priming done... Oh well, the one I made turned out ok.. and the diamond plate is on both sides.. I am now working out an idea for putting coil springs from the impact chisel, inside the bottom tubing, to add some resistance to lowering, which will take some of the weight off the tailgate.. You know how the new tailgates are, well, I am just modifying their idea, to make my own "assisted" tailgate... we shall see.. photos in June if I work it out...

Baja

Oh, did you notice the two hand holes ? Well, inside them, is a sliding, spring loaded door bolt to hold the gate in place, and around the sharp edges, I put that decorative chrome/plastic door & edge trim... worked out ok for me...

On a side note........My daily was totaled today.

I'm fine; dude in the car was in bad shape. Pretty much broke alot of bones in his body. Some were sticking out of his arm. He ran a red light doing what I estimate was about 50. I was going about 30ish. We impacted at my front passenger side and his front drivers side. I'm guessin the truck is totaled. frame bent bad. I loved that truck; had offers from people all the time t buy it. I'm sure I will get screwed by the insurance company. I have no idea who the dude was or if he had insurance. He had to be cut out of the car and med flighted away. We hit so hard the back of my truck was slightly airborne and I turned 180 deg from the direction I was traveling.

I hate it when that happens. You are OK is all that matters. As far as the insurance company goes, yes they will do what you said if you let them.
1. Make yourself aware of local laws or rules. As an example, here in Arizona (I know) it is a ratio state. If the insurance company can come up with, say, I am at fault 30% then they will only pay out 70%.
2. If the other driver that was charged with fault of the accident was insured by the big cheap insurance companies that their name starts with a "P" or "G", get a lawyer. They screw the Body Shops in to repairing cars as cheap as possible with the crapiest parts whereever possible. With NO regard for how safe the vehicle is for in the future.
3.Look at Kelley blue book, NADA, and New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing | Edmunds.com to see how much your rig is/was worth.
4. Don't "sign off" with his insurance company for months. As long as you have not signed off you are the one in charge. They will make it seem the opposite. That is their job! Once signed off they are off the hook. They will make you an offer "X"% of what they expect they will end up paying off. Why not get 100%? I am NOT saying being dishonest, NOT my way, but don't hurt yourself. A jolt like what you must have felt can crop up later. Days, months, years, whatever.
