Need info quick on truck purchase!

Hey all, I am looking to upgrade my f150. I found a 1995 f150 extended cab, auto tranny, 5.8 l. It has 127k on it and is very clean. It is 4x4, tonneau cover. Seems really nice and clean and tight. It drips a little oil which has seemed to be normal with fords
dual tanks, fontana package, 3.55 rearend with limited slip.
My question is how is the 5.8 in these? It seems super smooth and is quite "peppy" compared to my 4.9 with a 5spd.
Also, what kind of mileage should I expect with it? I have been getting on normal about 14-16 with my 4.9. i have heard that it should get somewhere in that range.
It is very clean, shiny 2tone paint. Clean interior. I can pick it up for less than $4k.
What do you think?

Go for it, I would much rather have a 5.8 in my truck than the 5.0 in it now.

I would see if you could make a better deal $3k-$3500 range but as far as the 5.8l good motor. Tows decent and mileage is ok for a full size pickup. I have seen the e4od can have issue but I think (if remembered correct) that they get a lot better in 94 and newer rigs.

What's a fontana package?

From the sounds of it, the price is good for the truck you described. I'll never own another Ford truck of this body style with anything less than a 5.8. I love mine, and I've been getting between 16-18 MPG in my crew cab on the highway. Not sure about in town, because my in town commutes are 3 miles or less. Hardly worth calculating.

The 5.8 are great motors. If they are well maintained they will last 300,000 miles. My truck is a 94 with a 5.5" lift and 285's on it and I average around 14 in town

It has some custom package that was done I think when new. One you send out for. It has fender flares that go into running boards. kinda the "old man" look. Interior has a wood console with an overhead wood piece on the ceiling with accent lights. It is sharp.
As for the price, it is about $3700.

My only fear is that I will have to sell my current f150 to get it. I have a 88 f150, 4.9 5spd. reg cab though. I thoroughly enjoy that truck. I trust the hell out of it and dont want to regret selling it. But.. It would be nice to have some more power and seats.. there is a little one on the way.

How would that truck be if I put 30" or 31" tires on it with the 3.55s?

The 5.8 will get lower milage in the city.. that's the downside of a larger engine, but it makes more TQ and HP than the 4.9 and has the potential to make quite a bit more again with a few simple mods, so this should be a no brainer. It won't have any problem with 31" tires either.

With a little one on the way you will really appreciate the extra room for a car seat, diaper bag and more. You will also have air bag(s) which will probably make a difference on insurance. Gas mileage maybe a little worse but not bad. It helps if you can keep your foot out of it. My Bronco has 3.56 AOD with 33's which is geared a little high but it works. Good luck and congrats on the little one.

your 4.9 should get more than 14-16 actualy should get better than the 5.8 and ive always been told a 4.9 will outpull 5.8 and i still believe it will but dont matter if your not into that. sounds like a fair price but ofcourse negotiate for your best price.
