Need info quick on truck purchase!
Hey all, I am looking to upgrade my f150. I found a 1995 f150 extended cab, auto tranny, 5.8 l. It has 127k on it and is very clean. It is 4x4, tonneau cover. Seems really nice and clean and tight. It drips a little oil which has seemed to be normal with fords
dual tanks, fontana package, 3.55 rearend with limited slip.
My question is how is the 5.8 in these? It seems super smooth and is quite "peppy" compared to my 4.9 with a 5spd.
Also, what kind of mileage should I expect with it? I have been getting on normal about 14-16 with my 4.9. i have heard that it should get somewhere in that range.
It is very clean, shiny 2tone paint. Clean interior. I can pick it up for less than $4k.
What do you think?

What's a fontana package?
From the sounds of it, the price is good for the truck you described. I'll never own another Ford truck of this body style with anything less than a 5.8. I love mine, and I've been getting between 16-18 MPG in my crew cab on the highway. Not sure about in town, because my in town commutes are 3 miles or less. Hardly worth calculating.

As for the price, it is about $3700.
My only fear is that I will have to sell my current f150 to get it. I have a 88 f150, 4.9 5spd. reg cab though. I thoroughly enjoy that truck. I trust the hell out of it and dont want to regret selling it. But.. It would be nice to have some more power and seats.. there is a little one on the way.
How would that truck be if I put 30" or 31" tires on it with the 3.55s?

With a little one on the way you will really appreciate the extra room for a car seat, diaper bag and more. You will also have air bag(s) which will probably make a difference on insurance. Gas mileage maybe a little worse but not bad. It helps if you can keep your foot out of it. My Bronco has 3.56 AOD with 33's which is geared a little high but it works. Good luck and congrats on the little one.
