Belt tensioner pulley

Belt tensioner pulley
Hello they people, just a quick question for you guys. Does anybody know if you can just change out the pulley on the automatic tensioner? Or do you have to replace the entire assembly? I ask because my tensioner is good, but the bearings in the pulley are shot. If you can swap the pulley out, does anybody know if this is the correct pulley for it. they look the same.

Need to go ahead and replace my belt and the pulley seeing as now they make A LOT of noise. I know my power steering pump is contributing as well, but that will have to wait a month or so.

Yes, you can change out just the pulley. Remember the bolt is reverse-threaded. I went ahead and changed my whole tensioner assembly, since it was original and beginning to wear out. First one I put on was a Dayco, it caused misalignment, noise, and began to wear the belt. I then put on a Gates with a new belt and it's been perfect (and quiet) ever since. IMO, OE or Gates is the way to go.

I would have to go out and look to be sure, but, I'm thinking that is the idler pulley, I don't think the tensioner pulley has the ribs at the side of the belt...
I could be wrong, if so I hope someone will chime in... I just hate to see you put the work into it and have a problem "if" it's not the correct one....

Well I went ahead and ordered a new Gatorback belt and the pulley for my truck a couple of days ago. Arrived today and put them in. Absolutely no noise now whatsoever. The pully I linked to is the one that was on there and is for the tensioner. It is Motorcraft part #YS-180 or E8TZ-8678-D. The belt for a 92 5.8 with A/C is Goodyear part #4060935
