Forty or fifty years ago, before weather radar really got started and the inland effects of these hurricanes were known, people would have just thought how strange it is to have so much rain and snow.

Ax...your brother should just relax in Vegas for another day or two. Better to be at a hotel/casino than to be stuck at the airport halfway home.

God Bless

Dan
Dan, actually he and his SO own a condo in Vegas so staying another day or two wouldn't be much of a hardship, but he's concerned about their home in suburban Buffalo and not eating up vacation time so he can go back to Vegas over the holidays. I should be getting a call any time now to hear where if they made it to Chitown and if he will get to Bflo today.

We made it through, alot of rain, lost power a couple of times but only quick ones. It's still raining but the 70mph winds have died down. Gotta go fill the bird feeders.

It'll be tough to get on an eastbound flight today. I hear the part about limited vacation time!!

Cool beans!! Good that you have power! A lot of others will be without it for days from the looks of things

Some of us still remember those days. The weather was a surprise, and the weather man even got it right once in awhile. How's the blizzard coming along?

Now 50 years later with all the advances in scientific studies, computer modeling, etc. The weather is usually a surprise and the weather man even gets it right once in a while!
Blizzard? was there supposed to be a blizzard???

Weather man, the only job where you can be wrong most of the time and still stay employed.

LOL. Very true. We definitely didn't have a blizzard, just an early season snow for Kentucky. On the other hand, I think the folks in West Virginia would probably say they did indeed get a blizzard from what I've seen on the news. It was very strange here actually this morning. When I got just about two miles down the road, there was hardly any snow at all. At the same time, the northern end of this county got about 14 inches. The county government here has postponed Halloween for the kids until Friday--probably a good move considering it's supposed to be nice again with temps close to 60.
