No V10 for 2013 F-450/F550 & F-650?????!!!!!

Gee, that would really suck. Ford doesn't even have info on any of the 2013 chassis cabs, as of 10/27/12, so it really wouldn't surprise me. I suggested a V10 for 2013s with 425bhp, but their silence doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy. Why not an even more powerful V10 in the new chassis cabs ?! And a factory V10 Expy would be nice! And what ever happened to that 7.0L V8 I heard soooo much about? Still can't find any 2012 V10 F-650s, either! Not good!

I have been a diesel guy for many years, but I really like my 2012 F550 with a V10.

When you go to the Ford site you have to build a Cab Chassis to get the V10, it's still there .

Well I think ford made a mistake when they stopped the V10 in the Fseries like the F250 and F350. I think more people might consider the newer trucks especially where I am if the F250 and F350 still had them. Now if they stop the F450 and bigger with the V10 then I don't think many bigger trucks will be sold from Ford.

I don't think it was Ford idea it was government regulations, the F450 and above are in a different class. I've been looking at a F450 with a V10 but I can't get it in a Lariat only in a XLT.

What do you mean goverment regulation? It was to powerful for the F250s F350s.

I think it was emissions and maybe economy.

I was figuring that too. I will keep the V10 no matter what.

Probably more CAFE ratings in the smaller trucks than anything. I'd be shocked if they squeezed 425bhp out of a current 3V V10. IIRC they kept the old 429 around for a long time in the big trucks, don't see why the V10 wouldn't be any different. Although if the 6.7L is really as better as it is looking than the Navistar engines were most fleet's should go back to a diesel with the reliability and mileage back up.

It will be interesting to see if and when changes get made to the new 6.2L. I love my v-10 for the power but the fuel economy is less then desirable. As others have said, I still see the towing and heavy duty advantages the v-10 offers over the current 6.2L v-8.

I too have been keeping my eyes out for a v-10 powered f650 but have not come across any as of yet.

The fuel economy in the 6.2 isn't much, if any, better than the V10. Its easy to write off the 6.2 as its slightly deficient in the torque and cylinder department but the ratios in the new trans more than makes up for it.

Side note- I never had an issue with my 2000. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned and was only at the dealer for minor repairs (window motors, etc). My '11 is in the shop right now with a leaking transmission and new brakes (18k on the odo).

My 2003 is very dependable too. We can wish all we want, v-10 gone in 250-350. will be gone from others in time. Thhey arent coming back, no manufactor will go back to older model engine. We can all agree milage sucks, but lack of repairs is nice. Even the new Mustang 5.0 is not the 80's 5.0. Maybe it comes back in 30 years improved for more power and milage?

Whew! A,ll is well. Just saw 2013 F-450/F-550 chassis cab brochure.... V10 is still available. Some other Ford literature lists 2013 F-650 specs....V10 still available. I think I also saw where offical 2013 F-650(&750) production will begin on 1/23/13. If I could only convince the "bean counters" that Expedition EL models could use a V10 option, I'd be happy. (Actually, in a regular length Expy, too, but I know they'd frown upon that!) When you really stop to think about it, EXCURSIONS never went away, Ford just created the Expedition EL to replace it....well, sorta. Excursions could be had with V10 power, so WHY NOT Expy EL models? You NEED a V10 in those suvs.

very true. I teased my mom she has the 4.6L in her 97 Expedition I told her once the engine or transmission goes out I am gonna put a V10 with 4r100 transmission in there then that expedition will be really sweet. But that is just another one of my ideas they never stop popping up.

Can you please tell me why you like your f550 with the v10? I am a fire chief in oregon and we are looking at a new 550 with the v10 vs the diesel. What kind of mileage do you get? How much do you carry? How is the power? etc. We have 2 2012 f550 diesels that we use as brush/rescue trucks and need a 3rd one but this time money is an issue. And just looking for any info from people that have the new v10.. Thanks
