All is well with the engine, from the looks of it something just caused the timing to jump so now I dont have to worry about an engine swap anymore. I can get a Holley 4bbl but now my only thing is finding a manifold for the engine. Anybody have a 4bbl intake looking to get rid of, its a 390FE.
Glad to hear the engine is OK, What are you going to do about the bent valves?
since the timing gears got, due to bad gas/water in the fuel, were gonna get a new set of them as well as another lifter as one of the went to bits. I've got a full set of push rods so basically after we replace the timing gears it's back together it goes and since we done took off the intake I might as well swap out to a 4bbl holley 650 as it's currently a 2bbl and power wise it couldn't pull greasy string out of a bulls ***.

We havent pulled the gears out yet, thats our goal for today. Hopefully nothing else will go wrong as from the looks the heads are in good shape and from what we looked at the cam everything seemed to be in good condition. Anything that came off the truck my dad would have looked at and would have been able to tell right off as he has a little experience with old dentsides as one he used to have was a 77 f100 with a 302.
DtMaster, I've got a T intake if you are interested.
I've also got a F427 aluminum intake that requires a lil love to be usable.
Ok thanks deeproots, unfortunately I did have to get another engine in the end there would have more money into the one I had so I got another 360 and now in the process looking over the new one and it also has a 2bbl so I will still be needing a 4bbl intake. Send me a pm on the 2 you have and pictures also if you can. I won't be needin it but in a week or two I will once we get it all setup.
Another question, in all of yall's opinion, would I be better off with a holley 650 or quadrajet 600? I got a holley but a guy I know wants it to drop it on his blazers's 350 he just dropped in it. Main reason I'm asking because he seems pretty insistent and he says the quad was setup for a ford but I thought the quadrajet was about the best you could get period for a carburator, just curious on that one.
It doesn't matter anyway... Fe's have such a huge variety of intakes to pick from.
With single plane, there is a huge difference between a Victor, Dove TunnelWedge, and a Streetmaster.
either way, for a stock motor, they are all overkill.
