Need help chosing an amp.

I have installed many stereos and speakers in my cars but I have never done an amp install, I will not have a problem with the wiring I just need help picking out a go amp to match my speakers.

I am running four Pioneer TS-D6802R 6x8 2-way speakers connected to a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD in my 2001 Navigator. I want to get an amp for the speakers so they sound better, but I am not sure what amp to get or how powerful the amp should be. This is the power rating on the speakers:

◦Peak: 520 watts per pair / 260 watts each
◦RMS: 120 watts per pair / 60 watts each

I used to do quite a bit of car stereo installs and building...making a list for one more I always matched my amps to the RMS power of the speakers/subwoofers. Only time I would use an amp that was rated more than RMS of the speakers was if I was going to be the only one using the stereo, or if it was a good enough deal to merit taking the chance on blowing something.

so since the speakers I have are rated at 60 watts each do I need to get an amp that is 60 watts? Or do I get an amp that is 120 watts cause they are 120 watts a pair?

a 4 channel amp running 60 per channel, or a two channel running 120/channel. Personally I like to have each speaker on its own channel, so I'd sooner go with the 60/channel x4 over the 120/channel x2. I've done it both ways and can't say for sure that there is much noticable difference in sound when you're only pushing 60w per speaker.
