Got my 292 today! And bonus surprise!

Well, most of you read my post about my boat anchor 239 that was destroyed. A member on here (thanks again!) shot me the link for a 292 that was local ad. Anyway went to look at today and ended up getting the whole thing for $250.

Sitting on it was an intake. I went to move it when I noticed it was for a Y-block. Upon further inspection, I noticed it was a four barrel. Then the lady said that was included as well!

So it looks like my 292 will be a thunderbird 292

The part number on the front of the timing cover is :
C2TE-6059....

What's that from?

Here are some pictures:

Here is that intake:

If NumberDummy, the Ford parts guru, sees this he can tell you. Or you could message him. I think the 292's were in T'Birds, Mercury's and a few other Ford cars and F100's from the mid fifties to about '64.

Believe your intake is from 1956. If it had a B suffix, that would be 1957 with modern Holley pattern.
C2te=C denotes 60s decade 2 is the year, so c2 is 1962. TE means truck, so your timing cover, at least, is from a 1962 Ford truck.

Hey Ryan,
Nice looking engine! Good to see you working hard up there
in Georgetown - we'll have to get a truck group together at The Monument to celebrate you getting it running!

Looking good over there!

Thanks guys, I love the praise! To be compleatly honest, the signature is old, I'm a 19 year old now.

Ben that would be great. I'd love to see your truck. We had better do it before I finish my truck, as that may be a looooong time ha. I'll send you a PM.

I took the valley cover off, it looks great. So tonight I painted the valley cover and the intake. I'll post pictures tomorrow. I think I'm about to pass out from breathing all the rust and lead based paint. Haha

I'm having a heck of a time trying to remove the Distributor. I've read the aluminum bonds to the steel block. I heated it up with a torch and soaked with PB blaster.... Nada. It's stuck.

Any ideas!?

Soak it some more and give it time. I have waited as long as a month. Sometimes you end up breaking them out. I'v been around the Y-blocks since they first came out, they are a good engine but can be hard to work on. I have three of them now,two runners and one for parts. My 56 Four door has the original 292 that came in it. The intake you have is a 56,in 57 ford went to the wider base. I have one of each. Good luck with the distributor and it's good to no somebody besides me likes the Y-block.----
Oh and when you put the distributor back in use lots of no-sez around it.
