EcoBoost Modifications
I just picked up a 2012 4x4 supercrew with the EcoBoost and a 3.55 limited slip. On ocasion I tow a 9k trailer, but for the most part the truck is used for highway driving. I am looking at installing a cold air intake and cat back exhaust. I would like to know what are the best brands to get, actual mpg gains, and is there an issue with these two mods without a tuner. Thanks in advance. Chris.

I drive from middle of California to reno up to Seattle and everywhere between. Sometimes pulling a light or heavy trailer. I want better horse power and better mpg during both. I have put 10,000 miles on in just 2 months time. I have noticed the exhaust sounds like its dieing to push air. I can get intake and exhaust for under a grand. Install myself. There has to be someone who knows the best and if a chip is needed after install of both. Let me know thank you

Condensationis your problem, varying RPM's while driving in the northwest will help getting it out. anytime you are driving near the dew point condensation will occur in the CAC. It cuts HP/torque and fuel mileage. Ford has released info about not replacing exhaust due to turbo overspooling. Check with your dealer. Manyget tired of the intake noise while long hauling with a CAI. Turbo design limits are 200 HP each. You can sitck your fist in the gotts mod. It gets plenty of air. Go for the long life for your trailer tow. Leave the dragstrip stuff to Hotrodden. Goold luck.

To be honest I've never seen a MPG gain with a CAI or exhaust on anything I've owned. If anything I noticed a loss, probably due to the fact that both items tend to make you want to get on it more often. I know the companies claim gains of 3mpg or whatever on a CAI, but if it was that simple why would ford not do it from the factory.

Neither or all 3. I wouldn't go with either for MPG gains, but if I was looking for performance gains I would get a CAI, exhaust and a programmer.

I would say exhaust for the simple fact that last vehicle I put CAI on and saw a drop in MPG. But in my opinion v6 sound terrible with exhaust so it would be hard for me to recommend that.
