Hey guys I couldn't find my answer, in the forums, so I'm giving this a shot. My reverse is just about out. It shifts fine going forward but no reverse. No humming noises or hard shifting. I've been told this is the first thing that goes out on the trannys. I've also been told my rear axle bearings are bad too. So my question is.......
if my reverse is out would this have ANY affect on my rear axle? If my bearings are bad would this make the reverse slip? I don't know jack about trannys or axles. I'm guessing the tranny is now showing signs that it needs to be rebuilt.

 

The transmission is completely separate from the axle. Nothing in the trans will affect the axle, and nothing in the axle will affect the transmission.

No reverse gear is a sign that the transmission needs to be rebuilt.

 

A new tranny,no pun intended, got it. I've found rebuilt ones going for around $1400 so off to the tranny shop i goes.
