E-350 starting problems

My mom has a 2005 E-350 5.4 auto that sometimes doesn't start when it's in park, however if she puts it in neutral it does, any input?

I think it's on the side right where the shift cable hooks up

On newer vans like yours its called the MLPS. Manual Lever Position Switch. Its also sometimes called the DTR (Digital Transmission Range) and TRS (Transmission Range Sensor). Autozone lists it as a Transmission Range Sensor, and it's 66 bucks there.

Is it something that can be adjusted? or is it better to just replace it?

I'd try adjusting it first. If that doesn't work, replace it. As it has resistors in it, and the one for park could be burnt out.
