Carbureted Heads W/ Fuelie Intake?

Hey guys. Im looking for a good flowing set of heads for my 460. As it turns out, all the best flowing heads come off of a carbd engine. I know... hard to believe... Is it possible to somehow drill and tap a hole in the heads to fit the fuel injector or is this complete nonsense? Thanks guys!

If im not mistaken the fuel injectors are mounted in the lower intake, not the heads themselves.

Just get a set of 95+ heads and have them ported. There will be other things restricting your power more than the heads

I read a little on the internet and (if I read it right), almost any 460 head will bolt to my engine and my EFI intake would fit! It just requires a little port matching. Thats EXCELLENT news! That means I can get those $400 racing heads and it should fit!

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, on a side note, the heads I might get are off a 1969 Lincoln. I think theyre the same heads that came on Boss Mustangs.

If you need to go to aluminum heads for your build, as they don't make aluminum EFI heads, you would need to go with carb'd heads. If you don't need aluminum, there won't be a lot of reason to go with a set of cast iron carb heads over a set of worked over EFI heads.

Look up Re in"car"nation for information on the EFI head's potential. From RHP's post on Facebook EFI heads and manifold with porting are good for 80-100 hp while still using an EFI compatible cam on the factory ECU.

The price is a pretty good reason lol. These heads I wanna get are already proven on the race track lol. Only problem is Ill have to run 93 Octane... Small price to pay for big HP! I still plan on buying Scotts "kit" minus the $1100 heads

IIRC you would need to grind the living **** out of the intake and heads to match them.

Guy was on here last year that tried doing that, and we tried to tell him it wouldn't work. He found out the HARD way

EVERYTHING. that is the problem. In order to match the ports you will grind right thru the casting. I will try and find that guys post

Please do. Everything I read contradicts everything else I read lol. Some say theyre a direct bolt in, others say they need ground some, and you say its not even possible... lol

Defiantly NOT a direct bolt in. Otherwise Price motorsports would NOT make adapters to bolt a carb intake to fuily heads

It's reverse of what you want to do, but here's a picture of fitting a carb intake to EFI heads which shows how far off the port alignment is.

AP-37 Intake Adapter Plate
