Short box vs long box question

Can someone tell me if the extra length of a long box is all in front of the axle (between axle and cab), or is the extra length both in front and behind the axle? Short boxes are hard to find here and I can't find one to measure. Thanks

I'm pretty sure the entire difference is in front of the axle.

In front of the axle. There is a guy around here that put a short box on his long box truck and filled the difference with a toolbox....Looks like crap.

I believe the guy Dave is referring to is the JohnIDI in Canada. Hangs out in the the post 87 area I believe. Or, at least he has one as well.

And yes, as said diff. is in front of the axle. And looks comical on a long chassis truck.

Where are you located? What do you use the truck for? Could be time to consider an aftermarket service or dump body, or a wood stake bed.

I've seen that one, but we have a local guy that has done the same thing.
