There is at least one truck I am looking at (78 F250) that has a flat bed on the back of it. I haven't gone to see it yet but I wonder if anyone knows a way to tell if it was originally a standard pickup and determine the original box length, or perhaps originally a utility box or cab chassis (is that what you call it with nothing on the back?) or whatever.
Also when people make these classy looking plywood wonders do they usually hack stuff off of the truck that would be important when remounting a proper box, I need to know what to look for if I go to look at it.
I would say they probably would leave everything in place to mount the deck to. I'm not sure if they came as a utility truck with no box.
The easiest way to tell if is is a long box or short box would be the axle spacing. I'm not sure the difference but someone will chime in or you could just google 1978 ford f150 wheelbase.
