Hello med-care-guy.

Since this ambulance isn't a Super Duty Pickup and your problem is engine specific, I've moved your thread out of the Super Duty Pickup forum and into the 6.0 Powerstroke Diesel forum.

These folks can better help you with your issue.

Sounds like a leak in the HPO system. Something like the dummy plugs. When there is a leak and the engine is hot, the oil is thinner and it is taking a long time to build up the pressure to fire the injectors.

I am guessing you do not have aftermarket guages of any sort?

You need to get a scangaugeII to start getting more detailed engine information. Otherwise, you need to start replacing parts on "hunches".

I would agree...its about $160 but will save you a lot in "throwing parts at it". When I had a similar problem, that is how I pinpointed (the HPOP) the problem, using the scan-gauge. You will be ahead of the game then

My "6.0L diesel crystal ball" says dummy rail plugs are more than likely the culprit. I just replace a set on a 2010 (that's right 2010 model year) E-450 about a couple months ago. Forget about the STC fitting, since your '09 already has the update one-piece branch tube connector.

Not that I have seen, the gentleman above is a pro on this engine, and from what I have seen on the forums most that have the issue with starts while engine is hot, then the dummy plugs are the prob.
