Retro Engine Program MEL series engine

The MEL ( Mercury Edsel Lincoln ) engine series ran from 1958-1968 in 383-410-430-462 CID sizes. The MEL has a deep skirt engine block like the Y-block and FE,and the MEL has an angled block deck surface with flat faced cylinder heads like the 401-477-534 Ford Super Duty and the Chevy W series 348-409. The MEL has the FE bellhousing bolt pattern. As part of the " Retro Engines Program ", I suggested that Ford offer a MEL crate engine with the 534 Super Duty bore and stroke. 534 MEL specs : 4.50 bore x 4.20 stroke , 2.25 dia intake valve , 1.875 dia exhaust valve , 1.75 piston compression height , 0.050 deck clearance , 7.35 con rod length ( 1.75 rod ratio ) , 11.25 block deck height. I encourage any of you who would want to see Ford come out with the 534 MEL engine to write to them and tell them. Fords 100th year comes at a tough time for them, but together we can make the " Retro Engines Program " happen.

Why?? I ask, since 460's can get that big. Didn't Shelby come up with a 540cid aluminum block a while back?

Some people who have cars with the MEL engine might want 500+ cubic inches in a MEL engine to keep some semblance of originality in their cars.

That would be pretty cool.
I liked the threads on the FE Retro program as well.

Although cool as it may be, I think Ford is going through some tough financial times right now and all of their resources are getting refocused back to their core businesses.

So the heart says yes, but the brain says no.
