lost oil pressure now wont start

My dad has a 2005 ford f150 w/5.4
He was driveing down the road and noticed that he had no oil pressure so he pulled to the side of the road and shut it off. He tried to restart it and it would not start. It turns over, but wont start.

I read some forums that say, your oil light will come on when you start to loose power.

So I decided to rule the oil pump out for that reason.

I thought maybe the timing chain broke causing the no start, so I pulled the valve covers (not an easy job). The are still in one piece.

I then noticed that one of them had some play. So I got my flash light out and looked down between the timing cover and the motor . Thats when I notice something that looked out of place.

The timing chain guide has broke off. I ASSUME that it jumped time causing it not to start.

If it jumped time would it break any valves? Or will they be fine?

Ron, the timing chains are connected with VARIABLE CAM TIMING , solenoids, and oil pressure , chain adjustments ........... you can google or look up VCT on this site and see a LOT of problems with 2004 or later 5.4 motors with over 100K miles... If you have a no start / poor running/ noisy chains/ etc......... the VCT and related parts are a good possibility.
