Need help with EEC cap on 77 F100 tank.

I am replacing the side fuel tank on a 77 F100. I ordered a new tank from LMC with the EEC vent. The tank has arrived with both holes as required for the EEC line to connect. I have ordered the sending unit to go in the side hole, LMC shipped the lock rings for both holes but did not include the vent line cap for the top hole. LMC does not sell the cap with the ventilation nipple. I have called RockAuto, Dennis Carpenter and all my local stores. No one sells this cap. Does anyone know where I can get this? My only option is to send the tank back to LMC and go with a non EEC tank. HELP.

What happened to your old one? You should be able to use that on your new tank. If it is missing look on the next page of LMC catalog for rear mount tank and they list the vent and grommet for that tank...should be the same.

I was stupid enough to dispose of the old tank prior to receiving the new one and the vent with it. ( stupid ) I see the rear tank on the next page, however that is a rubber grommet and not the same diameter as the one off the side tank. I have two options, find a cap for the snap ring or send it back to LMC for replacement with a non EEC tank. I find it somewhat disappointing that LMC would sell an item without all the parts.

What size is the hole for the vent? I can't see the one on my tank to tell if it is different from main tank. If you do get a non eec tank make sure and get a vented gas cap or your tank will eventually stop flowing gas, because air won't be able to get in.

It's available from Ford (see below), prolly other places as well. But, it isn't a cap.. it's the "fuel vapor valve."
There is no such things as EEC (Electronic Engine Control [System-on board computer]) on trucks of this vintage. And thank your lucky stars there isn't.

What you are referring to is the Evaporative Emission System (ev/em).

The fuel tank has two round holes, one for the fuel tank sending unit, another for the fuel vapor valve (what you are calling a cap), also requires a seal to install it.

The fuel vapor hose routes from a nipple on this valve along the right (passenger) side frame rail, attaches to the valve on the charcoal cannister.

E7DZ-9B593-A .. Fuel Vapor Valve / Available from Ford.

MSRP: $56.30 // FTE Ford Dealer Parts Dept sponsor tousleyfordparts.com price: $30.97 / Tousley Ford: White Bear Lake MN

F6TZ-9B076-AA .. Seal-Fuel Vapor Valve to Fuel Tank / Available from Ford.

MSRP: $7.13 // tousleyfordparts.com price: $4.31.

EEC is an abreviation used by Ford in the factory shop manual for Evaporative Emission Control. I'm not sure why the valve is not available for this tank. Sometimes happens when parts are made in China and they haven't actually seen one of our trucks.

No such thing as Evaporative Emission Control / Ford terminology: Evaporative Emission System

I'm not sure why the valve is not available for this tank.
It is available from Ford (and prolly autoparts stores) and has been since 1972. The same valve was used on ALL 1972/79 FoMoCo vehicles and for other applications in the 1980/90's.

I listed the Ford part number for it and the prices.
Since there is no such thing as EEC for trucks of this vintage, the info I typed came from the '73/79 car parts catalog, because 1979 LTD/Mercury Grand Marquis with 351W's were the first FoMoCo vehicles to have EEC.

Evaporative Emission System introduced in 1970. FoMoCo's abbreviation for it: ev/em.

The OP is calling the fuel vapor valve a cap, why he hasn't been able to find one. Because...there is no such thing!

LMC catalogs have so much wrong info, it's pitiful.
