74 f100 engine/carb ID help

hey all. well I finally got my hands on my project truck. its a 74 f100 reg cab long box in running/driving order (been driving it around for the past week). I parked it now to start working on it and in the process of looking up prices and such for carb kits and all that good stuff to get her running good i found that i need some help figureing this out. the VIN saids it has a 360 CID in it but once i took the air filter off i found that i have a holley 4bbl carb which did not come on the 360. it is not the original tranny in the truck so there is a chance that they swapped both engine and tranny and i can't tell if it is a 360 moded to take the holley or if its a 390 swapped in. I'm also not sure what model of holley carb is on it which i would imagine i would need to know in order to get the proper kit. So, is there/where are the ID numbers on the carb/block (if there is some) and is there a website or book that i will be able to look this up? or will i have to pull the plugs out and measure the displacement of the of the pistons from bottom to top of the stroke?

The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code: H = 390 2V / Y = 360 2V

All 360's came from the factory with 2V's / Look on the 4V intake manifold for a number similar to this: D4TE-9425-AA, post what it is.

1974/76 F100/350 390's were available with a 4V carb as an option (VIN engine code M). Carb was a Holley.

But this doesn't mean the engine was swapped, coulda only been the manifold and carb.

360/390 share the same bore (4.05"), the stroke is different and you'll have to measure it to determine engine size:

Stroke: 360 = 3.50" / 390 = 3.78."

Bill has you pretty well covered on the engine part of the question. IDing the Holley carb should be a simple matter of finding the number stamped into the front side of the air horn, and looking that number up in a Holley carb book.

Alright I checked out my carb and got the list number which is 80457 1246 (the first part being overtop of the 2nd part). if my research is correct then i think my carb is a 80457 600 (F)69,(R)plate 134-39 6.5 4160. that is copied right off a website. is that correct?

i didn't have time to check the length of my strock today so still not sure of the engine.

Carb model info should be correct. The main body is where the carb model and CFM rating are determined. That's why the ID number is stamped into the main body, but also where it can accessed rather easy.
The rest of the info about jetting and other stuff, just refers to what was inside it at the time it left the manufacturing plant. No telling what may have been changed internally, in order to tune it to better meet the needs of the engine(s) it has been used on.

Check these guys out. This is where I got my carburetor stuff from, and everything was perfect even tho I took a stab in the dark with them cause my Carb tag was really scratched out.

They helped me I.D. my carb over the phone with what little information I had. Once I got my carb kit in the mail, bob was definitely my uncle...

Carburetor Rebuild Kits, Manuals, Floats, Chokes, Choke Pull Offs and Parts

They've got kits for all kinds of carbs. You should be able to find one for yours.

And best of all! They're in the same province as you! They're located just outside of Edmonton, so shipping shouldn't be too bad!

EDIT: This might be the correct manual for your carb if it's a 4160 like you listed:
