Clean your old cap breather and check your air filter. Is it normal? I have not seen one of these trucks without it in factory form like yours. Also, get a new PCV for the right bank. A lot of times they go bad and cause this to happen. They are super cheap at any parts store. The PCV valve is one half of the crankcase ventilation system - the other half is the breather filter. The breather flows clean air into the crankcase through a hose on your air filter and the PCV valve lets dirty air and crankcase gases out. These dirty gases and air get sent through the engine to be re-burned for clean emissions. An old PCV valve can cause rough engine idle, blown oil seals, fouled air filter and fuel system, fumes in the passenger compartment, excessive engine part wear, and shorter oil life.

So i should get a new pcv on the passenger side of the engine?
or driver side?
Because i recently bought a new oil cap breather and pcv vaulve?

Do you have a PCV on both sides? shouldn't you just have one on one side and a breather on the other?

If the pictures in the first post are accurate, there's an air intake on the passenger side (hose from air filter to valve cover) and a PCV valve on the other side. The PCV valve sucks out the blowby gases, fresh, filtered air replaces the volume removed as said in Post #3.

Ensure the correct PCV valve & breather cap are installed, make sure the PCV valve is actually functioning (pull it off with the engine running and put your thumb over it, you should feel significant vacuum), make sure the small air filter in the air cleaner assembly that allows fresh air into the crankcase isn't blocked.

If everything checks out in good shape and you have more blowby gases than the engine can deal with, this means your engine is well on its way to being worn out. It may last for years that way but would never pass an emissions test nor would it have optimum power output.

Start with the PCV valve on the right side. Check the rubber too, if it is a bit dry that can cause this too.

One of my 79s had it that way with the 460 and I think both 400s were too. It's been a few years since i had them so i'm not sure about the 400s.

haha. I wish this was the extent of the oil leakage on my 390. This damn thing acts like the oil was never meant to be in it.

Yes, PCV valve on one side and breather cap or better connected to air filter on the other, there should be no other breathers on an engine with a proper PCV system, think of it as a vacuum cleaner for your crankcase!
Build up of combustion gasses in your crankcase contamiate motor oil and accumulate as gum and sludge so vacuum them up!
