You might be money and time ahead to start here:
SilverStateSpecialties.com Reference Section: IH S-Series 4x4
and do a body swap.
Just a thought.....

I had thought of that, and it was pointed out several times.
I don't know how the engine and everything else fits in there, but I doubt the ford pickup body is going to fit proper on the frame and engine, even with hacking.
The engine placement VS front wheel position would have to be within inched of SD placement, and I think the engine in those bigger trucks sits more forward.
Also the engine fitment is going to be sooo tight, that the stock engine mounts would probably not work anyways, so whats to save?

Youre in for some serious head scratching. Putting an inline engine in a hood that was made for a v engine is tuff. The DT466 is a big engine compared to the v8.. Be ready for some major body lifting..
If youre on the west coast ive got a fuller 1400 series 10 speed transmission with a sae 2 bell house on it.
Also have a 1400 13 speed if you want a bunch of gears.
Have the flex plate off a dt466 and a torque converter if you end up needing one of them..
I wouldnt worry about the clutch or the trans. As long as you put a medium duty trany in there you'll be ok. If the clutch goes, put a ceramic one in its place, You have to understand these parts were made to tug around 20 - 60,000 lbs. Your 10,000 lb pick up isnt going to push the trans or the clutch to breaking points. You should be more concerned with your t case, u joints, drivelines, and axles.. They're whats going to fail.
You should just take a 4x4 med duty truck and attach the cab to it.. International made a bunch. Probably find one for 4 or 5 grand with a shot cab.
Sounds like a great project! Wish I had the time, or even the extra money!

Thats all going to be MD stuff also... along with 22.5 rims with 22 ply float tires.
"You should just take a 4x4 med duty truck and attach the cab to it"
I'm looking into it, actually.
The bad news is that the frame will show big time, and that the engine might not be able to stay in its natural spot anyways, so I'm not yet sure if the gain is worth it.

I am also looking into an ubran gorilla body kit, and using it on a MD chassis.
Those bodies don't need near the lift to clear huge tires.
I just talked with a guy that built an "urban gorilla" with a gm 6.5 turbodiesel chassis, and says he gets around 20 on the highway, at 60 mph.
Also the company can modify the body to make sure it will fit over the engine.
Just looking into.... nobody get excited yet lol.
