Cb radio shorting truck out??

Alright heres my issue. I had removed my cb radio for a few months and decided to put it back in I bought a new antenna (firestik) and decided to make my own bracket out of a piece of galvanized steel. So I put it back in today screwed it back into the bracket turn it on flipped through some channels to make sure it was working ok, try turning the truck on and the starter makes a quick noise then nothing. No power to the truck whats so ever. Not even windows locks lights nothing.

The cb radio has its own power cable with a 7amp fuse going straight to the battery and ground under the dash. Now the bracket is all metal and the screws are metal, could this possibly be causing my issue?

Doubtful.....since you saw no smoke.

Simply remove the CB wires and see if things change.

Did you end up with a poor connection at the battery when you redid the wiring?

Negative, all the wires are good.I'm pretty sure I got a good ground I basically have it bolted under the dash. I took the cb off the bracket and started the truck a couple of times with no issues. Voltage gauge was good, idle was good. This is very strange

I just had a thought.....maybe the screws used to hold the bracket to the radio or the mounting screws hit a hot wire and grounded out the truck.....

Fyi New englander, when installing a new wire from the radio to the cb also install a fuse at the battery, it protects the wire installed (in case )of shorting out between the cb fuse and battery, which could start a fire TR
