Hello again. need help. I am installing a new radio in my 1987 Bronco II XLT. It has a mounting bracket on it but that I beleive grounds it out but if the wiring has a groung wire do I need that bracket?
You need to attach the ground wire from the radio somewhere or it's not going to work correctly.
You'll also need a bracket if you don't want your radio falling inside the dash everytime you stop, not sure what type radio your installing, but you may need to get an adapter bracket to get the new radio to fit if it doesn't already fit into the original bracket.
It's probably an accessory support bracket more than anything. You can run a wire from a screw in the body of the radio to any convenient ground to satisfy the grounding.
You need the bracket for the back of the radio. The radio will fall into the dash if it dont have it. The radio is grounded though the antenna cable.......You can hook the ground to the metal part of the dash (Ive done it, In my Bronco)
