17 inch rim to 16 inch rim
Maybe someone can help me on this one. I have a 1997 Ford F-150 extended cab 4x4 Off-Road package truck and I have been looking for a decent, but not bank-breaking set of tires and rims. It seems all of the choices fall under a 16 inch rim for aftermarket tires. Other than speedometer reading, will it affect my truck by stepping down to a 16 inch rim?
Thanks,

Youre transmission might not shift correctly. The computer relays certain signals about wheel speed vs rpm. You might get laggy shifts. You just have to get your speedo fixed. Its not that big of a deal. I dont know if the 97-03 trucks are the same, but I know the 92-96 can be altered right in your driveway. I know dealerships can do this for you.

I've got the same set up as slash500. But already had 16' when I got it used. I've wanted to go to 17 or even 18 (SVT rims). I think 17 is standard. 18 with a lower profile tire might feel nice, but how worried should I be about computer settings and transmissions affects?
