I hope i am posting in the right location

Hi,
I have a 2001 F 250 67.3 4X4 Auto trans. It has been missing at high speeds, now also at low speeds and it stalls at idle sometime.
I ran the auto enginuity and came up with the following codes-
P1280 injector control pressure sensor circuit low
P1670 electronic feed back signal not detected
C1701 left rear sensor circuit fault
P1867 transfer case two wheel drive solenoid circuit failure
I have tried to find out on line where to go from here with zero results. Can anyone tell me how to find out what I need to do to fix this problem? Short of taking into someone and have it repaired.
Thanks,
Roger

Probably the first thing to look at is the ICP sensor.
With Key On, Engine Off....see what value you get (should be 0 psi).
Then unplug it and see if your value changes. Start the truck with the sensor unplugged. Injector Control Pressure should be around 700 psi at idle.
Then plug it back in and see if the psi adjusts down to 480 or 500 ish.

Look for oil in the electrical side of the plug.

With the ICP plugged in....what is Injector Control Pressure (psi and volts) at idle and what is Injector Control Duty Cycle (% and volts) at idle?

Hi,
Thanks for the info but I am so new at this I cannot even find where to get the information on the ICP sensor.
At this point, having hd the scan tool hooked up to my truck three time and basically gotten no where, I'm willing to make someone a heck of deal of the whole package.
Frustrating beyond words.

well,
hard to believe but i did get some results.
ICP, key on engine off- 0 psi
running and plugged in psi is 460-490; volts .71-.85
control duty cycle 10.55- 10.94%; cannot locate where to run the volts.
Lastly, I have not located the ICP sensor, so I have not run the key on, engine off test.
thanks again

Hi roger.lees51,

While this isn't necessarily the wrong place, there is likely a better one where you can get some more response. So I'm moving this one to the 7.3L Powerstroke forum.

Your ICP seems to be fine....but you might want to check for oil anyway. I posted a picture showing the location of that sensor. It's on the driver's side cylinder head, towards the front. The sensor will be pointing directly at the Power Stroke 7.3 plastic engine cover thingy...

Your symptoms sound a bit like a faulty Cam Position Sensor (CPS). Have you changed that ever? Go ahead and clear your codes and see which ones come back. Are you getting an SES light or is your engine just running rough?

Are you using AE? If so, here are some fantastic write ups....

The ICP sensor is on the front inboard side of the drivers head.

We usually see P1280 when the ICP is disconnected or there is a problem with the wiring. I'd check the wiring going to the ICP sensor and check the wiring at the IPR too, as well as making sure the nut on the back of the IPR is snug (don't overtighten)

If you can catch the truck missing or running rough at idle, try unplugging the ICP while it's running and see if it smooths out. That could indicate a faulty sensor.

hi,
the engine will run rough and then after a few miss fires i will get the SES light. I am tempted to just change the CPS since the ICP seemed to check out fine. I cannot find where to test the CPS with the scan tool.
Thanks again,
Roger

You can't really check the CPS with AE. If you are getting good RPM readings, the CPS is more than likely working right.

I think you need to run the truck down the road while letting AE log the data for you. Really you only need to have Engine RPM, Vehicle Speed, Injection Control Pressure, Injector Duty Cycle selected to do this. That will let you know what is going on. I am thinking you have a faulty ICP sensor with the code you showed earlier. It could also be IPR related, but hard to say just yet.

Check out this LINK from my website on AE. It will help you set-up AE to get what you need to report back to us.

Also try not to get frustrated with your software. You have to know more than just the software to understand what is going on and how to set it up. Stick to this forum and we will set you in the right direction.

Again, Here is a LINK to my AE page. Watch the videos, read the how to's and ask questions!
