Lucille's open apology
For the past two weeks, Lucille has visited a few cruise nights and when she's sitting there showing off her engine compartment, she's met with a host of disappointed Ford guys who groan a little and walk away upon viewing her SB Chevy engine. Hey, it was a previous owner with a love for GM engines and drivetrains, she's a Ford so she naturally feels bad about their diappointment! To ease her stress and make the first step towards acceptance, she had me adhere the following decal on her firewall just above her engine.
No mention of the Chrysler radiator yet so she's hoping this will end some of the grumbling.

Chevy engines seem to be very polarizing. People love them or hate them. When I sold my 48 F-3 it was the 350 engine that the buyer liked the most about the truck. Said he wouldn't have been interested if it had a Ford in it...go figure!
It will interesting to see how my current 49 F-1 is received with the 302...if I ever get it finished! I think your truck looks nice!

LOL, don't worry about it. there's just some people in this world that have no imagination. Most of the people that look under my hood walk away in amazement that its a big Caddy. Others have no idea what engine it is, some of the Caddy guys have a hard time with it since I've disguised it a bit and fabbed my own valve covers.
All in all, I've only had one guy that got obnoxious about it. He was a dyed in the wool Ford guy who started cussing and giving me crap about having a Chevy engine.
I just laughed at him and let him go on and on. It wasn't worth it to argue with him.
You have a gorgeous truck. drive the tar out of it and ignore the morons

It's easy for Chevy guys to be magnanimous...I wonder how they would feel if it ever became popular to stuff a SBF in a Chevy truck?
A guy in our club excuses himself for the SBC in his 55 F100 using the same line, "the PO put it in there". But at the Rods & Relics "Run to the Sun" event at Lake Havasu a couple of years ago one of the judges looked at his truck and just walked on by...said he doesn't waste his time looking at Ford trucks with SBCs in them. At least after that episode he got rid of his "heartbeat" valve covers!
