06 RANGER 60/40 SEATS SUCK
Anyone replace the factory 60/40 seats? The lumbar is too much for my back, it was fine when I bought it but now they really irritate me. I dont have power or anything. Anyone try mustang or explorer seats? or by chance the newer Ranger models more ergonomic?
Thanks in advance

Explorer seats are what you are looking for and are mostly a bolt in. In my 99, I installed a full length center console and leather buckets. They even match the rest of my interior such that you would never know it wasnt an option.
edit, this really only works for extended cab trucks as the seats are shaped a bit different.

I had to drill out the holes in the new seat mounting brackets as the bolts for my truck were larger than what was used in the explorer. Also had to run wiring for the power seats. As for the center console, had to drill/mount the rear bracket for it (make sure you get it from the donor truck). But other than that, pretty straight forward. I will cavet my answer to say that things may have changed some from 99 to 06 and will also depend on donor seats/console.

I swapped 60/40 bench in my 93 Ranger XLT for buckets from a 1990 Ranger GT sport...they are essentially Mustang GT seats. The buckets have two manual adjustments and power lumbar, but haven't wired up the power lumbar yet. I pulled the 60/40 seats, took the seats off the brackets and bolted the Ranger/Mustang GT seats to the 60/40 brackets. I have no console now, but I like the room better than any console I could add and my Lab doesn't have to climb over a console to come up front when he is riding in the truck with me and is in the super cab space behind the bucket seats. I found my GT bucket seats on my local Craigslist...I was real lucky...$100 for the pair and about 2.5 hours to do the swap. Good luck.
