2005 6.0 edge programmer fried my ficm

I have my 2005 f350 and I put a edge juice with attitude on it put it on Saturday the 19 drove it down the road all good Sunday drove it 40 mile trip better mileage happy went back up north 10 miles into it edge monitor shut off , worked on way home. Monday same made it half mile and shut off, Tuesday didn't work only drove to the store. Called edge they said it could not be fixed offered me 40% off a new one.. Wednesday truck would not start fire then die. That programmer fried my ficm this happen to anyone else???? Where to send the ficm to get it fixed and reprogrammed ?? I want to get rid of the ford programming if possible I like the edge when it worked for the 100 miles that it worked for .. all this for helping a friend with his 04 chip came from him and his problem child 6.0 he tired of the 1000.00 bill and a crappy running truck but that's for another post now we are trying to get my 05 back running right my truck only got 13 mpg driving like grandma 3.73 gears and auto trans .

Sorry you had a problem with your FICM, but its very possible that your tuner pushed your FICM harder than it's been pushed before, and the weak spot showed itself. If you wanna play, you gotta pay.

GREAT Point^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Now Hows your Batterys and alternator when these parts start going bad they can take the FICM with it Clean all Battery connections even the grounds where they mount at the frame and Engine

Load test Batterys separatly and check alternator output

Send the FICM to ED and get the Atlas 40 FICM Tune IIRC and he will fix the rest of the FICM to at a great price

www.ficmrepair.com

When ED done with it it will be Better than a New FICM No BS either

Just Make shure the charging system is solid before you put the rebuilt FICM IN IT

As far as the EDGE throw it in the Garbage and get an SCT Tunner your truck will be happier trust me

Did you take the edge out of the system and try it?. Ive got a buddy with an edge and its taken out his pcm twice. Both times the truck wouldnt start. Problem may be the pcm. Get ready for another 1,000 dollar bill. Edge strikes again!!!!!

I did pull the ficm out and apart smelled burnt just a little it sat in the sun for a hour I put it back together truck started had 37volts shut it off , re started had 30 volts then to 23 v and run ruff then died . I think it had 47 before I pulled it not running .

Now if one was to get pcm and ficm both reflashedwith custom tunes that would take care of problems or the programmer is supposed to take care of pcm?

Is there a programmer that replaces factory pcm or ficm ? The neighbor was told there was for his 04

it amazes me..

that you take a perfectly good truck and ruined it with all the "fancy" stuff. i have a 04' with 201k on it. the only maintenance i have done is oil, fuel filters and egr valve. just took a trip to california with the cruise set on 59 and averaged 19.8. i could lie and say i got 20mpg but, 19.8 with 201k on works for me. 59 to 60 is really comfortable once you get use to it. all i did is slow down to improve my mileage, just sayin..

With the 7 years I have owned my truck, I read and listened to others. SCT is the only programmer to get. Use custom tunes by a know 6.0 pro. Not only does it programs the engine it also programs the transmission.Edge ,Banks, Bullydog on a 6.0 is a suicide.I have 96,000 miles on my truck, 93,000 with my sct. It runs as good as the first day I reprogrammed it. This is fact, if you don't believe me search.

Send your FICM to Ed at ficmrepair.com and he can put a one of several different tunes on it and you will be up and running better then before. Read his website or more information. I just had the Atlas 40 added to my FICM after it died and I'm very happy with both Ed and how my truck is running.

Thanks very much, Getsome! We aim to please.

As far as the tuners go, I completely concur with what's been said here. SCT is the only way to fly. We sell them along with near everything else you can get for your 6.0 and have yet to have an issue. They are just rock solid.

To the OP: We'd be happy to take great care of you. Ship your FICM on across and you'll be better than new in no time!
