well I can tell you this when I bought my 92 I got mine for $1300 with 150,000 miles. I didnt find out till a few weeks later that my oil pan was leaking and had been patched, the front gas tank leaked(found that out the day i drove it home and tryed to fill it up) 4x4 was a little rusty if you will. Basicly crawl under it look it over and look for anything that could be an issue. Check leaf spring pearchs and the 4 wheel drive system

check the oil, you want black. If its got new oil be alittle suspicious. Water in oil in oil is bad, (or course). Look at it good, and drive it. If he won't let you drive, walk away.

well i got the truck...named "smokey"......the 5.0 leaks lots of oil...right onto the exhaust on the passenger side. any idea if its the oil pan gasket? (i hope) or does it sound like the head gasket or something else????????? it only leaks after motor gets warm. but as soon as i park it theres a puddle that will fill a shot glass or two. i cant see where its leaking from. anyone else have this problem? also im replacing the alt. this weekend its toast. hope to make it road worthy soon. shes a beauty and ill be posting pics soon.

OK. with replacing the alt, you might look at doing a 3G swap, its simple and a major upgrade. As for the leak, it could be the oil pan gasket or maybe the valve cover gasket.

Did you put a factory replacement alternator on it? A 2g?

Not sure, Mine at one point was actually frying the alternators. So I did the 3G upgrade. Its a one wire alternator

You might want to do some research or start another page.
